The Department

B.E. Computer Science and Engineering

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was established in 1986, and has evolved into a vibrant hub of academic excellence and technological innovation. The department currently offers an undergraduate program leading to the B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering, along with a comprehensive Ph.D. research program spanning diverse disciplines within computer science and engineering.

With a clear vision to become a Centre of Excellence in research and education, the department fosters interdisciplinary integration by bridging the domains of Computer and Information Sciences with Natural Sciences and Core Engineering disciplines. This approach encourages innovation, cross-disciplinary research, and technological advancement.

In line with its commitment to experiential learning, innovation, and industry readiness, the department established the Project Development Cell (PDC) in the academic year 2024–2025. The PDC serves as a platform for students to engage in real-world projects, gaining hands-on experience and entrepreneurial insights.

Data Structure Quest

Data Structure Quest" was an exclusive event for 3rd-year CIT students, designed to challenge their ability to implement efficient data structures under pressure.A total prize pool of Rs. 5,000 (First Prize Rs.2,500, Second Prize Rs.1,500 and Third Prize Rs.1000) was awarded. Winners and runners-up were selected based on judges’ scores. Certificates were distributed to all participants and winners

Faculty Development Programme

Six Days Online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “ GENERATIVE AI MODELS ” - The FDP focuses on the foundational concepts, principles and techniques related to generative AI. Through these 5 days FDP participants will gain insights into the principles of generative AI algorithms from the foundational concepts to Practical implementation. Participants learn about neural networks, autoencoders, VAEs, and GANs, gaining practical insights into text and image generation. The program is planned with expert speakers delivering lectures and facilitating Practical Lab sessions.
