Data Structure Quest" was an exclusive event for 3rd-year CIT students, designed to challenge their ability to implement efficient data structures within a time span. A total prize pool of Rs. 5,000 (First Prize Rs.2,500, Second Prize Rs.1,500 and Third Prize Rs.1000) was awarded. Winners and runners-up were selected based on judges’ scores. Certificates were distributed to all participants and winners

Six Days Online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “ GENERATIVE AI MODELS ” - The FDP focuses on the foundational concepts, principles and techniques related to generative AI. Through these 5 days FDP participants will gain insights into the principles of generative AI algorithms from the foundational concepts to Practical implementation. Participants learn about neural networks, autoencoders, VAEs, and GANs, gaining practical insights into text and image generation. The program is planned with expert speakers delivering lectures and facilitating Practical Lab sessions.

Internal Hackathon was conducted by the department of Computer Science and Engineering for the academic year 2025-26 which served as a pivotal platform to select our best teams for Smart India Hackathon 2025 (SIH '25).

Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Coimbatore Institute of Technology, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) conducted a technical talk titled “Building Safe and Trustworthy Intelligence” on Feb 5, 2026 at IT213. The event aimed to create awareness about the ethical, secure, and responsible development of intelligent systems in the rapidly evolving digital era.

The Product Development Cell (PDC) facilitated a collaborative project between CSE, CIT and TNAU from Dec 2024 to Feb 2025, focusing on weather-based blast disease prediction in rice crops. As part of this initiative, II Year CSE students successfully developed both a mobile application and a web-based platform for real-time disease monitoring and prediction. This program enhanced practical skills, interdisciplinary learning, and innovation in applying technology to agricultural challenges.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, CIT, and the All-India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Ministry of AYUSH, New Delhi, signed an MoU to implement the award-winning project. Followed by Internal Hackathon conducted by the department of CSE for the academic year 2024-25 which served as a pivotal platform to select our best teams for Smart India Hackathon 2024 (SIH '24).

Cryptera 2026, a two-day technical symposium, was organized by the III Year Computer Science and Engineering students on 30th and 31st January 2026. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of various colleges, providing a platform for knowledge sharing and networking. Several events, including workshops, hackathons, paper presentations, and non-technical competitions, were conducted successfully. The III Year CSE students played a key role in planning, coordinating, and managing all activities, ensuring the smooth execution of the symposium. The event was a grand success, fostering innovation, technical learning, and collaborative engagement among participants.

Third Year Computer Science and Engineering students visited the Power Transformer Plant of Kerala Electrical and Allied Engineering Co. Ltd. (KEL), Ernakulam, Kerala as part of an industrial visit between 19th Sep 2025 and 21st Sep 2025. The visit provided valuable exposure to industrial operations, transformer manufacturing processes, quality control measures, and modern production techniques. Students observed how large power transformers are designed, assembled, tested, and maintained for power distribution systems. The industry experts explained the importance of automation, safety practices, and efficient resource management in manufacturing industries. The visit enhanced the students' practical knowledge and helped them understand the real-world applications of engineering concepts beyond the classroom.
