Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at Coimbatore Institute of Technology has been playing a vital role in imparting fundamental and applied chemical sciences education to engineering students since its inception. The department has contributed significantly to teaching, research, and interdisciplinary scientific development within the institute. Over the years, it has expanded its academic and research activities by offering programmes in Applied Chemistry and supporting undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral research. The department is equipped with well-established laboratories and research facilities that promote innovation, scientific inquiry, and industry-relevant research.

The department introduced the programme in 1972, marking an important milestone in its academic growth. Since then, it has continued to nurture students with strong scientific foundations, analytical thinking, and research-oriented skills required for engineering and technology applications.
