Statutory Declaration
(Under Section 4(1)(b) of the Right to Information Act, 2005)
- Coimbatore Institute of Technology (CIT), Coimbatore, was established in the year 1956 under the aegis of the V. Rangaswamy Naidu Educational Trust as a part of its long-standing commitment to public service and societal development. Since its inception, the Institute has functioned as a centre for technical education with a strong emphasis on academic quality, ethical governance, and social responsibility.
- The Institute is governed by a duly constituted Governing Body in accordance with the norms prescribed by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the University Grants Commission (UGC). The Governing Body comprises representatives from AICTE, the Government of Tamil Nadu, Anna University, and members from industry, ensuring balanced oversight and stakeholder participation.
- Coimbatore Institute of Technology operates in full compliance with the regulations, statutes, and guidelines issued by AICTE, UGC, the Government of Tamil Nadu, Anna University, and other competent statutory authorities, as amended from time to time.
- The Institute offers technical education to meet the evolving requirements of skilled manpower at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral research levels. At present, CIT offers eight undergraduate programmes, ten postgraduate programmes, and Ph.D. programmes in both full-time and part-time modes across its academic departments.
