MMTTC (Formerly TLC)

Established in 1956, Coimbatore Institute of Technology (CIT), Coimbatore, is a Government-Aided Autonomous institution with a long-standing reputation for excellence in engineering education and research. The institute offers a broad spectrum of academic programs at the Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Doctoral levels, fostering both foundational learning and advanced research across multiple engineering disciplines.

CIT functions with the approval of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, and is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. Several of its academic programs have been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), underscoring the institute’s adherence to nationally recognized quality standards. In recognition of its academic leadership and faculty development initiatives, the Ministry of Education (formerly MHRD) has designated CIT as a Teaching Learning Centre under the Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT).

Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT)

The PMMMNMTT Mission is a comprehensive initiative designed to tackle the multifaceted challenges surrounding educators, the art of teaching, preparatory training, and continuous professional growth. A core priority of the mission is to close the existing divide between classroom teachers and teacher educators, creating clear pathways for experienced teachers to transition into roles where they can mentor and train the next generation of educators.

Administrative & Capacity Infrastructure:

  • Unified Educational Strategy: Establishing a synchronized framework to holistically resolve deficiencies in teaching quality across all levels, from primary schooling to higher and technical education, by adopting world-class international standards.
  • Institutional Capacity Building: Developing and reinforcing administrative mechanisms at both Central and State levels to expand disciplinary training capacities and implement regular excellence assessments for faculty.
  • Empowerment through Training: Strengthening the expertise of teachers through diverse interventions, including initial training, re-training, and refresher courses that focus on pedagogical mastery, ICT integration, and technology-driven instruction.
