COMMUNITY WORK DONE IN THE FIELD OF EDUCATION & LIVELIHOOD ACADEMIC YEAR 2022-23
Community Outreach and Social Responsibility is embedded in the MBA syllabus. During the second semester all the students undergo a course on Rural Community Engagement which is blend of theory along with the field work with an NGO.
Department of Management Studies (MBA) has partnered with few NGOs for facilitating the practical course 21MBAL28 Rural Community Engagement. Students will participate in Rural Community development activities by attaching themselves with any one of the NGOs mentioned below:
- G-18 Public Charitable Trust, Coimbatore
- Native Medicare Charitable Trust, Coimbatore
- Tinkle Seva, Coimbatore
- Igniting Young Minds, Coimbatore
- Thaai Arakkatalai, Coimbatore
- Shanthi Ashram, Kovaipudhur, Coimbatore
TINKLE SEVA, COIMBATORE
- The name of the NGO is Tinkle Seva. It is a registered charitable trust in Pannimadai. Its main vision is to empower the underprivileged sections in rural and tribal communities, Providing Health, Education, Livelihood and Power Nutrition to rural and tribal children especially for girls to have a safe, healthy, holistic learning and career for life.
- A team of 5 students (Nandhini, Anjana, Aparna, Elakiya, Thivya Bharathi) from 1st year MBA CIT is a part of this NGO from 11th March 2023. As of now, the students have completed 2 weeks of their field work successfully with Tinkle Seva.
- Our student team helps the children of this NGO in their academics with the underlying concept of "learning by doing".
- They have conducted many activities like talent acquisition to showcase their talents, repeating words to test their memory power for primary kids and talent acquisition, word formation without vowels, quiz was conducted for upper primary kids.
- Our students also took class on cleanliness and taught the children about home, school, and environment cleanliness.
NATIVE MEDICARE CHARITABLE TRUST, COIMBATORE
- A team of six students went to NMCT ( Native Medicare Charitable Trust) which is a part of CIT MBA for a period of time.
- NMCT, a Non Profit organisation was founded to provide quality education to the underprivileged children and to improve the livelihood of the Tribes, Rural & Urban women by promoting Agricultural, Forestry, Animal Husbandry and other Livelihood activities.
- NMCT also creates awareness among the public and migrant workers on prevention of HIV/AIDS and support their families.
- On the first day, orientation on the vision, mission and the activities done by NMCT was given to the students by the representative of NMCT.
- He also explained the corporate companies which are a part of NMCT through their mission of accomplishing improvement of Anaikatti Tribes.
- During their second class, the students went to meet the tribals of Anaikatti ( irulars) who are native to Anaikatti. This village has developed to this far just because of Native Medicare Charitable Trust whose aim is to Improve the livelihood of the Tribes and women in rural and slumarea by promoting capacity building & skill training programs.
G –18 PUBLIC CHARITABLE TRUST, COIMBATORE
- The name of the NGO is G –18 PUBLIC CHARITABLE TRUST . G-18 is a public charitable trust run by Mr. PARTHIPAN .
- The trust was registered in the year 2006 to plunge into social activities. It focuses on building youth leaders through social contribution.
- G-18 stands for 7 pillars from A to G and 18 stands for children who are below 18 years of age.A team of 13 students from 1st year MBA CIT were a part of this NGO from 11th March 2023. As of now , they have completed 2 weeks successfully with G-18 .
- For the first day the students planned the activities for upcoming 7 weeks, In which they were divided into sub-groups and contributed with passion and gave many ideas like Dress donation, street gardening, plant maintenance and many.
- In these activities the students have successfully completed the first activity which is dress donation. The students donated the dress to SARGURU TRUST which is owned by MPHF.V.S.
- Sudhakar and their motto is to create “ One Earning Member Per House” from the Down trodden in society.
THAAI ARAKKATALAI, PALLADAM
- A team of 6 students (Adarsh, Aravind, Cholvilangum Perumal, Martin Vimalraj, Rohit and Jeyasri) visited the NGO- THAAI ARAKKATALAI which is located in vavipalayam, Palladam.
- Mr. Sundharamoorthy is the founder and chairperson of this NGO.
- This NGO runs a hospital called vavi people's hospital, which is the only hospital in vavipalayam and gives awareness for farmers regarding organic farming and also teaches organic farming to them.
- The students of I MBA CIT were a part of their activities from 11th of March 2023 and planned for 8 days of field work in alternative Saturdays.
- They have successfully completed 2 weeks of their field work. On the first week the students got introduction to the NGO and came to know about their activities.
- In the second week they had farm work (weeding) in the field. The students learnt about organic farming and it's procedures. The students helped the farmers for onion storage.
- The students also planned to do activities such as survey taking, marketing organic products in the forthcoming weeks.
IGNITING YOUNG MINDS, COIMBATORE
- The name of the NGO is Igniting Young Minds. It is a registered NGO. Its main vision is to provide guidance and support to committed students free of cost regarding scholarship programs and competitive exams. Coaching is provided through talented teachers.
- The coaching is provided through online classes and required study materials are provided to students as soft copy through whatsapp group. Also to enhance student’s talent additional competitions were conducted and prizes were given to them.
- A team of 6 members (Jobiha ,Devi, Karpagambiga, Akilesh, Abdul Sihab, Manoj Kumar) from first year MBA, CIT joined hands of Igniting Young Minds from 11thMarch, 2023.
- The students have completed two weeks successfully with Igniting Young minds by visiting “Manavar Illam” located at PSG Sravajana Higher Secondary School premises and conducted awareness regarding various scholarship programs and also conducted various competitions to students to expose their talents.
SHANTI ASHRAM, COIMBATORE
- Shanti Ashram is a creative lab where the issues our communities face can be recognised and constructive solutions offered. Shanti Ashram has been supporting communities and people in their attempts to overcome poverty, eliminate inequality, produce innovative leaders, and promote sustainable development for the past 30 years.
- The Ashram aspires to operate as a catalyst for the empowerment of the many sectors of rural communities and society at large via a dedication to positive social action. A team of students from CIT, MBA were actively participating into the programmes like Youth Leadership Programme, International Centre for Child and Public Health, Ethical Education Programme and Group Counselling Programme.
- The students engaged in various programmes and acquired skills in organizing events, managing logistics, and coordinating activities. Through review meetings held at Shanti Ashram, the students were able to develop organizational skills, goal-setting abilities, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Also the collaborative efforts with organizations like GNRC and End Child Poverty enhance their knowledge about child poverty and strategies to address it.

G –18 PUBLIC CHARITABLE TRUST
- CIT-MBA were a part of this organization for a period of time and contributed in various activities such as sparrow box installation, survey for collecting essential things, book editing, World Environment Day events, cleaning of streets, feedback collection for donated things were part of the internship.
- These activities were spread over a period of 10 weeks from 30-04-2022 to 09-07-2022. The students were divided into sub-groups and contributed with passion and gave their valuable time in collaborative community growth.
- G-18 is a Public Charitable Trust run by Mr. Parthipan. The trust was registered in the year 2006 to plunge into social activities.

KOUSIKA NEER KARANGAL
- A group of 16 members have worked on this project for about 5 weeks. The main objective of this NGO is to bring water to the chinavedampatti lake which is dry for past 10 years and preserve the nature in and around the lake.
- The NGO established two parks which are full of trees around the lake. The work was to plant more trees and maintain them. The students were given with tools to clean and pluck the weeds which were hindering the growth of big trees.
- The students then watered the trees and added natural manure to trees. Some members of the group were involved in marketing activities like brochure making, video making and editing, poster making and article preparation to increase awareness among the people of Coimbatore to involve in nature conservation activities.
CHESHIRE HOMES
- Cheshire Homes Coimbatore is a private non- profit organization which provides care and shelter for differently abled people.
- The Coimbatore Cheshire Home was started in 1967 with the aim to provide shelter for Mentally ill people.
- Rather than focusing on the disability, Cheshire homes Coimbatore emphasize the possibility of overcoming it.
- The Livelihood Project provided students an insight on a sustainable and equitable opportunities for persons with all disabilities.

- Students visited the orphanage Aravanikkum Anbu Illam near Papampatti in Coimbatore.Event coordinators and Cultural Coordinators conducted games and fun activities for the kids in the orphanage.
- Students performed short prayer and carols for the kids at the orphanage. Students and kids enjoyed their time of togetherness and love.
