LABORATORY FACILITIES
The ITRMCELL accommodates
- The ITRM cell provides Centralized Internet Access with captive portal user authentication for faculty, staff, and all students throughout the campus using separate logins.
- Local Web Server (Captive Welcome Page) provides CIT event and announcement information through a local web portal.
- ITRM Cell supports computer hardware troubleshooting and maintenance.
- ITRM Cell supports LAN (Internet & Wi-Fi) implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
CIT-ITRM Cell is connected to the Internet via Internet Service Providers (ISP) using a (1:1) leased line.
Network security is provided through a SOPHOS UTM appliance. Centralized user authentication for internet browsing is linked with ADS Users.
The LAN is designed with a full-duplex Gigabit Ethernet backbone offering an aggregate bandwidth of 1 Gbps between switches using single-mode fiber. All building switches are linked through underground OFC.
The salient features of campus wide Backbone Network is as follows:
- 1 Gbps Fiber Optic Backbone
- Gigabit Routing Switch
- Three-tier architecture comprising Core, Distribution, and Edge switches
- 100/1000 Mbps Manageable Switches at departments and buildings capable of Layer 3 switching
- UTP CAT 6 Cabling
- Internet connectivity to each client PC
- Wi-Fi Facility
Currently, Wi-Fi facility is available at the Main Building Block, IT Block, Library Block, and Hostel Office using an HP Controller with HP Access Points.
