Mr. S. Karthik Kumar

Academic background

Mr. S. Karthik Kumar is a faculty of Civil Engineering, working as Assistant Professor at Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Coimbatore, India since 2014 onwards. He handles Soil Mechanics, Foundation Engineering, Building Drawing with AUTO CADD, Geology for Civil Engineers, Survey laboratory and Soil Mechanics Laboratory. at the undergraduate level.

He is currently guiding projects for under graduate and post graduate students in his research areas such as Soil Mechanics, Foundation Engineering.  Currently pursuing his research in Soft soil stabilization by stone column.

He has completed his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Coimbatore during 2007-11, and his Master’s degree in Geo Technical Engineering at Government College of Technology, Coimbatore  during 2012-14.After completing his Bachelor’s degree, he worked as a graduate Engineer Shapoorji and Pallonji Pvt.Ltd., Chennai division for a period of one year.

He is a Geo Technical consultant for various municipalities under the department of Municipal Administration, Government of Tamil Nadu for doing consultancy works in the areas of Geo-technical investigations and Foundation Design in Soil Mechanics Laboratory at CIT. Also generated revenue of Rs. 2.5 crore through Soil Mechanics Laboratory consultancy from 2016 onwards till date.

He has organized an International Conference on Advances in Civil Engineering Materials and Processes during January 7-9, 2015.

He is an active member in Indian Geotechnical society, Coimbatore chapter.

Serving as the Staff Advisor for Music Club, Coimbatore Institute of Technology from the academic year 2015- 16 onwards

Serving as the E-procurement Coordinator for Civil Engineering Department, CIT from the year 2018 onwards

Served as the for Staff advisor- CEA for Civil Engineering Department, CIT during the Period 2015 -18

Member of Anti- Ragging Committee during the Period 2015 -16, 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018, 19.

Organized various QIP/TEQIP/AICTE Sponsored One week Short term course/ STTP’s on topics “Environmental Issues in Sustainable Development” “Latest Challenges in Transportation Engineering and Town Planning” “Geo Technical Investigations” at CIT, Coimbatore during 2015-16.
