Academic background
Dr. P. Jagadesh, currently Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Coimbatore Institute of Technology obtained his Ph.D (Faculty of Engineering) from Anna University, June 2020, Master’s Degree in Computer Methods and Application in Structural Engineering from Anna University, Chennai (Coimbatore Institute of Technology) with Distinction in 2012, Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Anna University (Government College of Engineering) in 2008. During his under graduate programme he is selected as one of the best Civil Engineering Student across the country & had attended special summer camp training for a period of 4 weeks conducted by IITK, 2006. In interest of his research, he had working with 12 different research groups across the globe, and also submitted various research proposals across the national and international level.
Immediately after his graduation he joined as Civil Engineer in Gammon India Private Limited, Kalpakkam and Worked for 2 months. With search for new and challenging experience in field he switched over to ESSAR construction India Private Limited, Hazira, Gujarat as Assistant Manager and worked for 17 Months. Continuing his academic interest while in industrial itself, he immediately joins Master in Business Administration in Infra Structure Management and obtained his Master degree from Anna University, Coimbatore in 2011.
With an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and in pursuit of academic excellence he joined his alma mater as a faculty in 2012 and was served from 01.06.2012 to 30.06.2014. After his master degree he joined as Assistant Professor in Surya Engineering College, Erode. In search of knowledge, he joined Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Coimbatore as faculty from 02.07.2014 and serving in one of the reputable Institute till date. His area of interest in research keeps him alive through his experience in industry as structural or consultant engineer. He is experienced in a number of Civil Engineering fields but his specialty lies in Structural Engineering.
He has instituted and developed number of new laboratories in the Department of Civil Engineering, Surya Engineering College, Erode and has also updated existing laboratories with new equipment. He has undertaken number of consultancies works and looks over construction works in in Surya Engineering College, Erode.
Working as an academician, he has contributed immensely both to industry and academia. His substantial research contribution includes 28 national journals and international journals, 10 national and international conference publications. He also obtained 4 patents from Indian Patent office and foreign Patent office. He also guiding 3 part time and full time Doctoral students in Anna University, Chennai. He also evaluated numerous under graduate theses from reputed Institutions across the Tamil Nadu. He has been reviewer for some International Research publications like Periodica Polytechnica: Civil Engineering, Construction and Building Materials, Journal of Earth science and Engineering, etc.
He had organized and conducted various Programmes like International Conferences, Faculty Development Programmes, Short Term Courses and Workshops under sponsorship of AICTE-QIP, TEQIP, SERB, UGC, etc., with great acclaim. He also serves as expert technical member for National and International Conferences conducted across the Country. He also chaired a large number of Seminars and Conferences in the Institute and in other Institutes as a respected academician.
He has been invited to and delivered Guest Lectures in many top Institutes around the Tamil Nadu. He has also been asked to be a Keynote speaker in FDP’s/Workshops, and give Special Lectures in his field of expertise to enrich the knowledge of students in various institutes in Tamil Nadu. His way of delivery and charismatic nature fascinate even the most cynical of students. He is a member of various Professional bodies like Institute of Valuers, Institute of Engineers, etc.
