Academic background
Dr. P. Balraju obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Physics from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu and completed his Ph.D. in the field of photovoltaics at Jai Narain Vyas University, Jodhpur, Rajasthan. He was honored with the prestigious CSIR Senior Research Fellowship by the Government of India during the year 2006-2009. Dr. Balraju further advanced his research career with postdoctoral research at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bangalore.He enjoys the whole process of imparting knowledge to impressionable young minds and has a great passion towards research. His research interests include hydrogen production, super capacitors and optoelectronic materials. With over a decade of research and consultancy experience, he has authored 50 publications in SCI journals, which have attained more than 2,000 citations (h-index: 27), in addition to 50 conference publications. 4 research scholars are pursuing doctoral degree under his guidance.
He has been the investigator in a research project “Higher education and research on advanced materials for clean energy technologies (HERAMCET)” (UTF-2020/ 10053) [sanctioned amount 29,99,854 Norwegian Kroner (NOK)] funded by The Norwegian Agency for international cooperation and quality enhancement in higher education (Diku) in collaboration with Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL), Norway.Utilizing cutting-edge Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM) equipped with Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS), he can investigate a broad spectrum of material properties. He offers testing and consultancy services for in-depth characterization of nanomaterials, providing valuable insights for researchers and industry professionals. He has organized 3 international conferences and 4 faculty development programmes funded by various funding agencies such as CSIR, DST, AICTE and TEQIP. He is serving as the member of the Board of Studies of Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts & Science, Coimbatore. He is a life member of Professional bodies like Solar Energy Society of India (SESI) and Indian Society of Systems for Science and Engineering (ISSE).
