Academic background
Dr. A. S. Krishnan is currently with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering as an Associate Professor at Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Coimbatore, India. He handles courses on Thermal Sciences like, Heat and Mass Transfer, Power Plant Engineering, Fuels and Combustion etc. He is also supervising scholars towards their doctoral degrees in various topics in Thermal Engineering. A graduate of Mechanical Engineering from Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, Sivakasi in 1998, Dr. Krishnan specialized in Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning for his post-graduation from Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Coimbatore in 2000. He opted to continue his studentship by registering for doctoral degree at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras. A recipient of scholarship at IITM, he successfully completed his PhD in the field of Heat Transfer. Dr. Krishnan holds experiences both in Academic as well as Industrial Research. Teaching being of his interest after research, Dr. Krishnan, worked in the School of Mechanical Engineering at Amrita Vishwa vidhyapeetham University as a Senior Lecturer during academic year 2005-2006. Subsequently, having got an opportunity to work with Ministry of Defence, India, Dr. Krishnan, served as a regular Scientist at the Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), Hyderabad. He was associated with design of high-velocity test facilities involving both in-house as well as interaction with external agencies, during the period 2006-2008. Passion for academic research prompted Dr. Krishnan to curtail his service at DRDL and join Kumaraguru College of Technology in the faculty of Mechatronics Engineering as Assistant Professor. He handled various courses in Thermal Sciences for students of Mechatronics and Aeronautical Engineering for two academic years of until Oct 2010.
