Academic background
Mr. J. Cyril Santhosh is a faculty of Civil Engineering, working as Assistant Professor at Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Coimbatore, India since 2014 onwards. He handles Transportation Engineering, Remote sensing and GIS, Traffic Engineering, Highway Laboratory and Soil Mechanics Laboratory at the undergraduate level.
He is currently guiding projects for under graduate and post graduate students in his research areas such as Highway & Railway Engineering; traffic management; road safety engineering and Pavement Design. Currently pursuing his research in pavement modelling and prioritizing maintenance stargazes for urban roads in Coimbatore city.
He has completed his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Coimbatore during 2007-11, and his Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering and Management at National Institute of Technology, Trichy during 2012-14.After completing his Bachelor’s degree, he worked as a graduate Engineer in Larsen & Toubro Pvt. Ltd at Hyderabad division for a period of one year.
He has worked on numerous Central government funding projects during his PG research work including Urban Pavement Maintenance and Management System (UPMMS) sponsored by Ministry of Urban Development in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. He has been one of the architects in proposing a pavement prediction model for urban roads in Trichy city.
He is a member of Special Task Force (STF) on Road Safety in Coimbatore City – appointed by Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore City authorized by ADGP, Chennai. He is also appointed as Special Officer – Traffic Road Safety for the Real Time Project on ‘Traffic Control Management & Accident Spot Analysis’ appointed by Superintendent of Police – Coimbatore District.
He is Third Party Highway consultant for various municipalities under the department of Municipal Administration, Government of Tamil Nadu for doing consultancy works in the areas of rigid Pavement and Highway material testing in Highway Engineering Laboratory at CIT. Also generated revenue of Rs. 80 lakh through Highway Engineering Laboratory consultancy which includes material testing, third party inspections and design of Roads from 2015 onwards till date.
He has organized an International Conference on Advances in Civil Engineering Materials and Processes during January 7-9, 2015. He has delivered various guest lectures on latest technologies in remote sensing & GIS applications, Transportation Engineering including lectures at Training programmes conducted for Engineers by Tamil Nadu Water Board (TWAD) and Tamil Nadu Electricity board (TNEB), Coimbatore region.
He is an active member in Indian Geotechnical society, Trichy chapter.
Serving as the Staff Advisor for Dramatix Club, Coimbatore Institute of Technology from the academic year 2015- 16 onwards
Serving as the Finance Officer for Civil Engineering Department, CIT from the year 2018 onwards
Served as the for Planning Officer for Civil Engineering Department, CIT during the Period 2016 -18
Served as the Time table convener for Department of Civil Engineering, CIT during the Period 2015 -18
